A few years ago my station decided to start letting people decorate their desks or cubicles for the holidays. It was a fun way to add a little festive mood to the newsroom.
While I love the garland, wreaths, stockings, trees, and wrapping paper associated with the holiday, I was looking to do something a little different for my working space, to help me stand apart from the crowd. I also had just found out we were expecting so I didn’t have a lot of extra money to spend on decorations.
After a little google searching I came across this funny and out of the box idea. I like to call it Frosty’s Crime Scene.
To set the anticipation and get people talking, I placed missing posters around the station.
The flyers can easily be made in a Word or Publisher document.
The night before the decorations were to be completed, I set to work constructing my crime scene. A little yellow caution tape, some snow man essential (buttons, scarf, hat, carrot, twigs, etc.), a hair dryer, a cooler and some numbers to mark the evidence and ta da! You’re very own snowman crime scene.
It’s a creative idea your co-workers we’ll definitely remember and best of all, it’s quick and easy to clean up once the holiday season is over.
