Bring on the fireworks, hot dogs, and apple pie!
Fourth of July weekend is nearly here.
While many kids are too young to understand the historical significance of this day, there are still plenty of ways for them to enjoy the holiday.
Here are a few fun and festive crafting ideas to help get you started………….
Flag Shirts
You’ll Need: White t-shirt or onesie, blue and red acrylic or fabric paint,
How To: Paint your hand (or your child’s hand) with the blue paint. Place hand on the upper left portion of the shirt. Use the red paint and make stripes going from the hand to mimic the stripes on the American Flag. Let dry.
Firework Shirts
You’ll Need: White t-shirt or onesie, blue and red acrylic or fabric paint, two plastic fork
How To: Dip the back of the fork tongs into the red paint. Place paint covered fork on shirt forming a circle. Dip another fork in the blue paint. Place paint covered fork on shirt forming a circle over the red one to create the look of an exploding firework. Alternate paint and continue making as many fireworks on the shirt as you like. Let dry.
Flag Fruit Kabobs
You’ll Need: 8 Kabob Skewers, Blueberries, Strawberries, Bananas
How To: Wash blueberries and strawberries. Slice the bananas. Make 4 kabobs rotating between strawberries and bananas on the stick. On the remaining 4 kabobs, fill the stick with strawberries and bananas until 2/3 full. Finish with blueberries. Arrange on plate to create the appearance of an American flag. Enjoy!
